Q-theatre is a professional theatre founded in 1990 by freelance actors in Töölö, Helsinki. In October 2005, Q-theatre was chosen as the Theatre of the Year.
Q-theatre is made up of its 50 members. The members are freelance actors, directors, lighting designers, costume designers, set designers, photographers, graphic designers, playwrights, producers, and theatre technicians. Q has a permanent staff of three in the technical department and five in the office. The Q-theatre ensemble is led by artistic director Juho Mantere. The purpose of the ensemble is to add more continuity to artistic work and enable the increase of individual plays’ performance frequencies. The ensemble works at Q-theatre under freelance contracts.
